Mashrouy is a TV competition that aired on Blue Nile TV aiming to spread the idea of entrepreneurship among young people in Sudan. The program is a partnership between the British Embassy, the British Council and the Sudanese Young Businessmen Association (SYBMA).
It highlights new opportunities for investment in Sudan. Twelve contestants competed with each other to present the best business idea. Their ideas were then developed and refined by a panel of business executives who provided valuable professional advice.
After a series of challenges and twists, six contestants were chosen by the panel of judges. From these six contestants, three were chosen to move forward. During a live grand finale show which aired Thursday 30th January, 2014, the viewers voted for the winning contestant who won a prize of 200,000 SDG (the second prize was 150,000 SDG, and the third prize 100,000 SDG). The first prize went to Ms. Samah Elgadi, whose project to use a weedlike plant to make various items gained the most votes online.
The three winners will enjoy a three-week trip to the UK with the opportunity to meet other creative entrepreneurs.
